why are you surprised?
I hope you do believe that the owners of Facebook are in the business of helping you to connect with other people. It is very likely that their main source of revenue is advertisement. Like google they collect, analyze, extract keywords, and try to show you the most relevant ads. You sold your face, man! In exchange you got an extra way to communicate with other people.
