There is another solution...
This isn't a problem I have due to living in a 2 bed flat, but my folks had the same issue when I lived there (or rather I did) and the way I got round it was using two wireless routers & a ethernet cable between them. So it went something like:

ADSL -> BT Router (one access point) -> Ethernet -> DrayTrek Router (second access point)

With the two routers at either end of the house (and bigger arials on the DrayTek) there was plenty wireless waves to go around, and no brick walls were going to hold 'em back. The reason this started was because the BT Router was sitting on the wrong side of a outside wall.

This was helped by the fact we already had a Ethernet cable running through the walls as the house was done up before Wireless was a viable solution. However using the Ethernet via Power Socket solution might help with this.
