Spot on
Hi Oliver -

Thanks for adding your perspective to this and for referencing our Community Maturity Model. I think you are spot on in calling out the fact that current initiatives and strategic intent are fairly unbalanced right now in terms of resources and ownership. Companies are recognizing that the information environment is changing and are taking some tactical steps to experiment with new models (call the communities or networked information environments) and assigning community managers to those initiatives. However, those relatively small initiatives often just highlight the need for larger operational/cultural/leadership changes that is completely out of scope for the people assigned to oversee the community. There is a lot of friction because of the mis-alignment and community managers often sit at the nexus, trying to hold the pieces together and too often they or the community initiative end up being easy scape goats. Part of our intent in building the Community Maturity Model was to make it very clear that the job of 'socializing' and organization is more than community management alone... and a cross-functional process. Thanks for helping to further the dialog and Congratulations on your new position at Dachis!
