6/10 GE Front Load Washer 4.0 WCVH6800 JMS
Timm W - 02/16/09 (Edited: 02/16/09)
I Recently Purchased The Ge Front Load Washer rouchly one month ago. Only time will tell but so far, so good. Every feature works as it should and my wife and I couldn't be happier. My other washer, a KitchenAid started to crap out after six years. One repair call later and 330 dollars down the drain only to have the belt snap and motor blow out. To the other reviewers who had issues with the timer, I would go play with the kids or watch some TV. This washer does everything but clean your Figgen Behind. The timer may change up or down depending on the sensor dry. That's just the way the new machines operate. It senses how damp the clothes are then adds or subtracts more time. Try setting the Damp button to on and read your manual while your at it. Look, you have to be realistic when purchasing appliances, cars, computers or anything electronic. They all have computer chips and the like so guess what....There's going to be a certain percentage of electronic devices that just poop out. Back to the washer. The heat cycle is great. My six year old caught the stomach flu, came into our room and said she felt "sick". Two minutes later, she exploded with vomit coming out in every direction. It was like something right out of the excorcist. Needless to say, we washed our sheets with the sanitize setting and was shocked to see that not a single stain/mark was on our sheets or bedspread...Thank God! Regarding the water that settles in the front/rubber gasket...use a paper towel when your finished using the machine and wipe it off. No big whip. Leave the door open slightly cause it will dry up any moisture you missed. Not all week, just for a night. If that's too much work for the people reading this review then don't buy the washer or any front load washers for that matter. My Mom had one when I was a kid and holy moly have they come along way. The features are great, it's quite as can be, and gets your close as clean and fresh smelling as anything on the market. A word to the wise...Make sure the washer is level or it will shake. Any model washer will shake, rattle and hum if it's not leveled correctly. Most of the smuchs who deliver the units don't have a clue on how to set one up let alone change the handle on the dryer so it opens on the side of your liking. So place a leveler on top and turn the legs in the correct direction on the bottom of the washer. Use an adjustable wrench. If you do that, you should have no problems. Then read your manual and enjoy your new washer machine. My six your old is now doing our laundry with my wife because she has so much fun. My four year old just likes to run in and out of the laundry room and watch it spin round and round. It's a pretty cool site to see our kids interested in doing our dirty laundry. With any luck, they'll be doing the laundry w/out our supervision by 10 or so. Lastly, spend the extra dough and get the dryer. They work extremely well in conjuction with one another. You will save money because the spin cycle on the washer is so fast and works so well that the dryer does its job in half the time. Great set. One other thing, ALWAYS PURCHASE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!!!! The manufacture only covers the units for one year. Remember, moving parts equal friction and wear. That equates to an eventual break down on any mechanical device. It's just a matter of time so spend the hundred bucks up front and lay off going out to dinner or Dunkin D's for a few weeks or months if you have to. It will pay off in dividens. I hope this review helps anyone sitting on the fence. Besides, you get my review and sense of humor for free. Too bad you'll have to spend some CASH to get these excellent mahines! Good Luck!
