When the evidence of climate change becomes undeniable, it will be too late to do anything about it. It may even be too late at the present. In that case the best we can do is to try to slow it down.
If you cannot see with your own eyes just how your lifestyle is harming the Earth then you may not be capable of making that connection. If you don't want to believe the Earth is in peril at our hand then you won't.
The issues that face us are purely physical dangers and require physical counter measures. They require cooperation on a scale that only governments can manifest. That's where politics get involved but these are not political issues and the consequences effect everybody regardless of their political persuasion.
