RE: A tiny, ARM-based nettop (Slideshow: ARM smartbooks, Android netbooks, ULV laptops, Moblin and more from Computex 2009)
Xandros is not so bad. They have just hidden some functions. It is relatively easy to get them back. You can have many workspaces just by copying icewm (window manager) configuration files to the user's "home". Linpus does similar tricks, also there you find most the features hidden- Why do they do such stupid things is a big question. But they all do. Nokia Maemo on Nokia N-800 does it, but there the maemo community offers easy repair; iRex Iliad does it, Kindle does it. They all cripple Linux: There should be some addition to GNU GPL: it is not allowed to intentionally cripple the functionality. But then, our IT department intentionally even cripples windows XP for the good of the users.
But in itself the Xandros Linux on netbooks is not so bad. For basic functionality it is just OK.
