Holiday Gift Guide 2008: Laptop picks by the inch

I Agree - DO NOT BUY HP NOTEBOOKS!: I have wasted my money on a HP Pavillion dv9288ea with 17 inch screen and all the specs. Cost me a fortune and just after my 1 year warranty was up, the thing died. I found out there is a known issue with the nvidia graphics card frying either itself or the motherboard as these machines also run far too hot - bad design flaw.
