Less energy use, but MUCH less storage...
Because it uses 2.5" drives, it is smaller and more energy efficient - BUT - you can't buy a 2 TB 2.5" drive. Best I've seen is 500GB. So considering you would need to fill all 8 drive bays to reach the same size as a physically smaller 2 drive 3.5" NAS, is this unit really very useful?

The only way I see this being useful is if you want to create an 8 drive array of SSDs in the smallest possible space.
