- Why it is worth what it costs

People comparing it to a tablet pc haven't used the Kindle. This is not a general purpose video display, it is the closet thing possible to an electronic book. Thin, relatively light, with a display designed for reading for hours.
Amazon could improve the perceived value by selling it with several thousand public domain books/texts already loaded, and a credit for $100 in Kindle books to get started.
