Double edged sword
With the ISPs boosting fees and limiting monthly usage the "instant media download" scheme will never take off. The "flash" thing is still too expensive and unreliable (what would a 500 gig flash module cost). The current Blu-Ray is ho-hum at best.
I think the entertainment industry itself is the biggest "killer" of all these schemes. We don't want "free", but we don't want to pay to watch commercials either.
