We have to see the final product
before we can make any predictions on eliminating the gap. Without basic software like office suites and printing capabilities Android is not ready to bridge any gaps yet. I'm not saying it can't, but lets think this through before we start making wild predictions.

Also keep in mind that all of Android's programs are Java programs using Android specific API, which is fine but we still don't know the limits because it is still brand spanking new and the limits haven't really been tested yet. One potential issue, depending on which direction they go with this, is that the with such a limited application base the product will be vendor-controlled. That could be either good or bad depending on what you want out of the product, but most people who champion Linux and its freedoms would find that bad.
