- Apple Tax
-
When Apple first announced their iPhone App Store, people scoffed at the idea, saying that developers wouldn't pay the outrageous 30% Apple "tax." Of course, they were wrong. For that tax, developers got access to a best-in-class marketing and one-touch distribution system built into every iPhone.
Apparently the nay-sayers thought developers preferred the 40% tax that Handango charged for a clumsy, hard to use distribution system that the majority of Blackberry, Symbian, and Palm users have never heard of!
Now all phone makers have or are planning for their own app stores, and suddenly it's a good idea.
Unfortunately, that evil company has forbidden a handful of apps out of 10,000 from the App Store. I can't believe Apple is disallowing fart-makers, "I am Rich" apps, porn, and viruses, not to mention others that overlap with functionality already in or planned for my phone. I beg of you, Apple!
