I for one applaud McCarty's proactive response.

I agree with you that "even if rare, such outages are always unacceptable."

For those SaaS naysayers, I'd counter that on-premise apps also have outages, although they are obviously organization-specific. Kudos for Workday for owning up to the problem the way that they did.

The way I see it, this is just one of the costs of SaaS and clouds. No technology is issue-free.
