- 'IT has no inherent value'
-
...until the SEC comes calling and wants to see your email records for the last five years. Or your marketing department wants to run a major promotion on widgets and can't check your inventory to find out how many customers are still waiting for the widgets they ordered weeks ago that are all backordered.
I think 'IT has no inherent value' is an irresponsible statement along the lines of "Only sales reps have any value in an organization; everyone else is a parasite". The fact is that sales do bring money into the the organization and IT/HR/etc may drain it, without the others sales wouldn't have anything to do.
Some IT projects may not return value to the organization, but that isn't a reason to generalize. With a proper analysis before proceeding most of those can be avoided. Just because a pigeon defecated on my car once doesn't mean we should kill all the pigeons. - Posted by: 914four Posted on: 12/03/08 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
