Twitter is building communities
Michael, I think that you've hit on the real power of Twitter. It enables individuals in diverse locations, who have common interests, to form a community at a very low cost of effort. The communication is often similar to that in an office, with banter, help and sharing going on. It is true that merely bleating out "going for coffee now" into the ether is not very interesting. But the sharing of useful information, humour, tech support and general banter is why I like Twitter. As a home office worker it is a great way to have 'watercooler' conversation with people who have similar interests.
