User awareness

(1) The assumption that the average user thinks about the consequence of Internet application use before every use is...misguided.

Most are open to quick well thought out education -- but most don't think first about all consequences. And almost everyone is subject to forgetting who might receive the info except the most paranoid or professionals paid to specifically worry about that problem.

(2) However there is a distinct possibility that assuming total disclosure costs no more than securing trade and internal secrets. Mutual employee and management loyalty is more likely to be real or at least realistic with total disclosure. If you depend on trade secrets then maybe your company is too stagnant for the long run anyway.
