Backup Tapes
In my experience, data on backup tapes is relatively secure if the tapes are lost. Here's why:
First, you have to find a tape drive that reads the tapes in question. There's a large variety of tape media on the market, and some of the tape drives are not readily available.
Second, data backed up to tape is often compressed and/or encrypted and/or in a proprietary archive format.
