The industry can provide more useful tools
We encourage the IT, electrical & mechanical infrastructure, construction, and data center management industries to continue to work through The Green Grid, the US EPA, and other internationally recognized organizations to develop metrics and reporting standards for data center efficiency and productivity. In addition to the proper reporting of PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness), the industry must have metrics like Data Center Energy Productivity (DCeP) and Data Center Availability and Reliability (DCAR) in order to fully optimize the performance of their data centers. Data centers in the future will be viewed no differently than a manufacturing plant with productivity, quality, and yield measured against resources of which time and manpower are still the largest components. We at Emerson Network Power continue to explore these topics with our partners through our Liebert organization and www.efficientdatacenters.com.
