An interesting device
http://www.belkin.com/conserve/features/

I am not sure how much this would save. I think it is a good idea, but it is a band-aid approach.

My PC only draws 2.4 watts when it is sleeping and I would not want to remove all power to it and have it reboot (45 seconds) as opposed to just wake up (2 secs). I really don't care about saving $0.85 per year.

It does make sense for my laser printer as it draws 23 watts while sleeping. So, this surge protector would save me about $8.35/year.

The largest vampires in my house are the 3 cable boxes and they should not be powered off according to Belkin.

What really needs to happen is for all electronic device manufacturers to make all their devices Energy Star-compliant.
