Another option for Power management
I have responded to blogs on the topic of power management a number of times and hope that some have taken my advice.

I have rolled out a power management scheme for free with the help of the Cadmus Group. They are working with the EPA / Energy Star and they provide a free tool called EZGPO. You deploy a small app to the desktop that can then work with a GPO template to manage aspects of power consuption that Win XP does not currently have. I combined this with a scheduled event to wake the PC at 3 AM for updates and I am now saving thousands per year. I use WOL technologies to still gain administrative access to computers after hours.

Look them up. If you are hanging on to XP, it is worth it. If you are moving to Win7, there are more enhanced GPO based power management features that exclude the need for such tools.
