I live in Kansas
It is hard for me to argue with global warming when they tell me about ocean temps and ice cover, but when they talk about my backyard, I have a voice. Without a doubt, KS was hotter in the 80's than it is now. We have hot days, but not like when I was a kid. Not nearly as many in a summer. The last few summers, western KS has not had more than 15 days in the summer over 100F. In the 30's they had 50 such days a few years.

It gets hot here, and it has been dry here, but it is not as hot as it has been by any stretch of the imagination.
