Is this noteworthy?
I was under the assumption that ALL car sales are down, not just the hybrids. Bottom line people are not buying cars (before Cash for Clunkers).

So one could say "sales are down" on any category of vehicle, whether trucks, SUV, or diesel.

I would be curious about hybrid sales numbers after the Cash for Clunker sales numbers are totaled.

Here in San Francisco they showed on the news that lots of people were buying the Prius hybrid in response to the program. So I suspect that hybrid car sales will be way up after the totals are tallied in September (post Cash for Clunkers).

In fact, it appears to me that more people are wanting and buying hybrids, but for the economy preventing the purchase.
