I think that if the past has taught us anything
it is that it is not nice to fool with Mother Nature. Genetic crop engineering is a nice idea, but who knows the long term health consequences.

We, after about 50 years of trying, still can't engineer a sugar substitute that does not have grave consequences to our health.

Who knows what might happen if we start to really modify what we eat. (and yes, i know much is already underway, but much of that 'food' is not in wide usage)
