Not quite the same

So, Ford presents a plan to develop and implement new technology in their vehicles to improve efficiency and competitiveness, thereby securing a loan from the DOE.

GM goes to Washington, along with the UAW, and begs for money to survive. Washington gives GM money, fearing their demise and the loss of union jobs. In the process, the government nationalizes GM.

No difference, Harry? I see a world of difference.
