Natural Gas is the intermediate future for cars too
It can also be used as a transportation fuel for existing vehicles with minimal conversion costs. Eventually, I think we'll all be driving extended range electric vehicles which run the on-board generator using CNG. That would help us bridge the gap before we finally develop battery technology that enables 400+ mile driving range on electric vehicles.
