Newsweek has often gotten stories wrong.
I stopped taking them seriously when they took the premise of Jurassic Park seriously.

Cooling was not as big a concern to scientists of the 70's as the business and media institute think.

I've read the 1975 NYT article. It's a fair and balanced article in that it has a wide range of prognostications, and I think it makes clear that cooling is a long term concern while warming is a near-term concern.
