- Should the Feds stop selling flood insurance in these areas?
-
One of the ripoffs to the American people
is that the Federal Government sells flood
insurance to people who decide to live in
areas overcome by periodic flooding (once a
decade or more often).
I'll grant that people have a right to live in a place where a flood can occur once every 100 years.
(There are already those among us who
would prefer that the government stop selling
flood insurance for these places also. Perhaps
a compromise can be made in that the feds can
sell flood insurance to legacy owners, those
whose families have owned the property for, say, the past 50 years, and don't have
anywhere else to move to.)
It's another thing to live in an area that scientists say, will definitely disappear into water within the next few years due to rising
sea levels. I'm talking about people in places
north of Boston, for example, or maybe in the
outer Banks of North Carolina.
