The NY Times deserves to go bankrupt
That kind of shoddy journalism makes me glad they will eventually go out of business.

Personally, I have swapped about 80% of the bulbs in my home with CFLs. One 6 pack of GE bulbs worked for about an hour in my bathroom overhead lights then they all died. I chalked it up to a bad batch and took them all back to the store. Quality control issues happen everywhere, even in stories printed by the NY Times.

I replaced them with Sylvania brand and no problems. The natural light Ottlite HD cfls have saved my eyes in the office. LED's will soon replace CFLs so the mercury issue shouldn't take long. Don't crt monitors have mercury in them too?
