So, those big bad oil companies are meanies, aren't they? Boy, we're sure a lot better off now that those oilmen Bush and Cheney are gone.
In case you didn't notice, the American oil companies are itty-bitties when compared to the giants in the global oil industry. Those enormous profits you mentioned accounted for something like $0.10 on a $4 gallon of gas last summer. Overall,the profits in the oil refining sector are in line with profits in many industries--the numbers are huge because the revenues are similarly huge.
Tell you what--let's nationalize the oil and coal industries, just like Hugo Chavez or Fidel would do. Within a few decades we'll have an economy similar to theirs.
