Solar stocks: no surprise
Given the state of the economy it should come as no surprise that companies and especially individuals are not lining up to invest in solar energy. Even with the economic stimulus package, the extension of the Solar ITC (investment tax credit), and regional utility incentives and rebates solar PV installations are prohibitively expensive.

For most people in the US the payback, after all above programs, is still well beyond 20 years. So in a down economy with tremendous job uncertainty why make a bad investment? Simply because it is a nice environmentally responsible purchase is not going to cut it anymore.

No ? for Solar PV to regain its former growth curve the value proposition must significantly improve to nothing more than a five-year payback AND the economy needs to improve.

Your better investment is in energy efficiency and conservation.
