Hmm... take a mild greenhouse gas and add water
to get a more potent greenhouse gas. Which when combined with the O2 gives you exactly what you started with, plus a bit of energy. It's a solar battery essentially.

So you're not going to clean the environment like this, but maybe the energy gains make the process worthwhile. But I have a hard time believing that you do get a decent net gain of energy out of this process. The problem with solar panels now (from what I understand... I won't claim to be an expert) is that you can't make them big enough to capture the amount of sunlight energy that hits an area. Are we going to have large sunlight capturing farms to make this work? And even if we do, are the energy gains more than the energy drains?
