Those lights at outdoor arenas all over the world, there must be hundreds of thousands of them, and the miles driven to get there? - and what about TV sets we watch events on, or TVs in general? and PCs, what does not consume energy we don't have to spare?

The least you could do is show us what percentage of energy goes to auto racing. I suspect it is just a drop in the bucket like pretty much the above mentioned items, yea, we need to cut back a little here and a little there but sounds like you would do away with auto racing altogether based on the fact the 30 odd cars on the track the millions are watching are burning gas.

BTW Nascar did eliminate testing this year.
