They will be extremely important. In a very bad way for the simple fact that environmentalists, gripped by the irrationality of their anti-capitalist nature worship will foist this crap on us, totally oblivious to the laws of physics firmly declaring that neither solar nor wind have the energy density needed to meet the energy requirements of growing industrial societies. The upshot will be increasing brownouts, rolling blackouts, rising energy costs, reduced standards of living, economic downturns and a loss of individual liberty as environmentalists grow ever bolder in telling us what behaviors are no longer allowed (for us, not them) in order to save the planet.
