Energy independence..
..will be achieved when the govt gets OUT of the energy industry. How can some lawyer/senator be the expert on energy production?

These are the same people who, prior to the election, said they weren't banning clean coal, but that companies would go bankrupt trying to meet the govt regulations that would be set by Obama. Now these same people are saying clean coal is the US's greatest energy resource?

How about the govt(s) doing away with the countless formulations of gasoline so that costs to produce will come down.

How about recognizing the billions of dollars the OIL companies are already spending on alternative energy.

How about exposing carbon offsets as the snake-oil they are, and instead practice what you preach (600 jets flew into DC for the inauguration...) Mr Gore.
