A couple of points
First, Mercedes did not fail to save Chrysler, but rather ran them into the ground. I would hold out little hope that Fiat would be any better. If Chrysler is to be sold again, one of the Japanese manufacturers would be a better match. Nissan, perhaps?

Second, just how do you think the environmental community will react to the increased pressure on our forests from any attempt to harvest trees for biofuel production? Environmentalists have been the major impediment to various attempts at America becoming energy independent. They have blocked and delayed wind farms, tidal energy, domestic oil production, and nuclear energy. I can just see the look on their faces when they hear you want to harvest forests for energy.
