Price of gas going back up, but consider this.
I am surprised by the number who will purchase (40%) if it is cheaper than others. Keep in mind that it takes a LOT of energy to create a car, so keep your new(er) car, so long as it gets "decent" mileage until regular replacement time.

Also, as soon as economic recovery starts, gasoline is going back up. There will be zero new offshore, zero new onshore drilling, there will be no nuclear plants to supply electricity. What we are going to get is the $180B pumped into research and the (for the next 5-7 years, until it starts to pay off) constant rhetoric while all the current crop of cars and power plants use fossil fuels.

People still need to get around, and whether you are pro electric, solar, wind (which I am) or an oil executive, reality is, nothing will be done to stem demand and as soon as economic recovery happens, we will, yet again, be ruled by the oil cartel.
