Good Points
I agree that doing nothing will cause more grief than we can handle in the near future. Our economy does not have a lot holding it up and we are in a global resession that is still growing.

The objections that I hear about helping the auto industry is that both the managment and labor have ruined the American auto industry. I do not favor labor or management in this case, both have painted themselves into a corner willingly.

My argument is that the real estate industry was as guilty of mismanangment and greed as the auto industry. The finacial industry is also as guilty as both of the other industries. The executives of all 3 industries are over paid.

The current finacial bailout was supposed to help banks free up credit; but, the banks are using that money to give themselves bonuses and buy up other banks. The very thing that the auto industry is feared to do if they get bailed out.

The current administration ran on the idea that government is a problem and that we should vote for them because they have solutions. What we got was a goverment that became more of a problem and less able to help the people; but doing so much to help those who did not need any help.

During WWII, the allies bombed German factories in an attempt to cripple their industries. What happened was a lot of those industries got more efficient and more productive because they had to rebuild. I could deal with letting the automotive industry collapse if it would arise out of the ashes of current under performance and mismanagment.

Small business may be a source for a stronger economy. If the major banks are too big to let fail, break them into smaller units instead of letting them get bigger. Same with the real estate/financial industries.

Perhaps it would be a good thing if a business degree from an Ivy League university carried the same weight as a degree from a state college. The talent from the Ivy League has contributed too much to doing bad business. Apologies if this is too much a global desparagement of current CEO and management.
