I disagree with $1.25/gallon.
I have a truck, I use it for work around my property and for large purchases, hauling my horses, etc. About 3K miles/year. I have a more fuel efficient vehicle (about 24 mpg) that is fun to drive, but am seriously curtailing all extra driving. Telecommuting, I am down to around 6K miles/year.

If the volt is available when time to replace it, even at $0.80c/gallon, I would purchase it. I would be willing pay more for electric than gasoline because 1) it helps our economy, keeping more money at home and 2) I like the idea of removing all dependence on and sending any money to countries that don't like America.

Yes, I know, some power plants are run on foreign oil, but if demand increases enough, nuclear and clean coal will become a higher and higher percentage.

I believe that despite some on the far left enjoying high prices to help with the "incentive" to go green, most people here know that whatever the current price, energy independence and the need to move towards it just can't (and won't) take a back seat anymore.
