TalkBack 1 of 1:
We need energy conservation - not revenue generation
The biggest problem I see with this so-called smart-metering is that it is designed to generate revenue. It has nothing at all to do with power generation or energy conservation. It simply measures how much power is used and what time of day. For the power company, this has the advantage of making it impossible to compare your billing with the neighbors or anyone else.

If people do actually try to conserve energy, the meters allow the utility company to fine-tune their billing to compensate for it. This will certainly help them ensure that there is never a revenue shortage.
