smart & clean: grid parity within 24 months
Given the fact that the price for fossile fuels are constantly rising, solar energy is one of the most promising solutions to our dwelling energy problem.

Within the Solar Market Thin film applications and especially thin film silicon technology show the highest potential to reach grid parity within the next 24 months.

With he high potential this TF-PV technology has and the effects of economy of scales still to come the 1$/Watt peak is already in reachable distance.

A few facts:

- Thin Film Silicon is non toxic

- Thin film Silicon technology needs around 100-200 times less Silicon than cristaline modules

- As the amorphous/microcristalline silicon film is absorbed out of Silane Gas, there is no demand for expensive silicon wafers.

- Efficiency is currently between 7-10 percent with a strong potential to rise with new technologies dual and triple junction cells.

-The possible applications reach from architectural integration (as the modules are black), roof top and ground mountings to large-scale solar parks/ Solar farms with MW capacity.

SO: looking forward to see the US entering this promising market - be it with Oerlikon Solar or other TF companies - the ROI seems pretty interesting for smart businessmen.
