What's wrong with walking to work
Although I accept that "nobody wants to sit in the dark" the notion that "nobody wants to walk to work" is ridiculous.

It is the car addiction of countries like USA that has led us to use almost half of all the world's oil in 50 years.

Walking or cycling to work should be the norm, and in another 20 years if you can't reach everywhere you need to get to each day for work, food, education and entertainment by foot or cycle, then you're not going to survive peak oil.
