Unfortunately, these things tend to by cyclic
today's panacea is tomorrows thing to be avoided at all costs. Over my lifetime, I have seen at least 3 such reversals about coffee, and the caffeine that it contains.

I also have evidence, though for you it might be anecdotal, that two great-aunts, one who lived to 96, and the other almost 94,had diametrically opposite results. They were sisters, both drinking coffee as though it was the best thing to ever be drunk (5-6 cups before noon, and more after that). One had tremendous powers of memory until the day she died, the other had Alzheimer's in the last 10 years of life, never getting to the point where she forgot who I was, but forgetting most all else about my frequent trips to see her.
