Know what's behind the firewall?
A lot of research paid for with taxpayer funding.

Someone gets the funding from the NIH, does the research and
sends their results to one of the major pubs, like the NEJM.
Docs with subscriptions get the information, but the funders
have no right to it.

After spending a lot of time researching our last 3 cancers I
have no sympathies for these publications. To be blunt - they
make a lot of money from subscriptions and ads and can do
very well without needing to charge the public. I'd like to see a
requirement that publicly funded research results are open to
the public and any charges for access will be taxed at a new,
very high rate.
