And if electromagnetic waves are truly dangerous, why aren?t the cranks going after cell phone companies, or TV and radio stations?

They won't go after cell phones because most people are addicted to cell phones. If you were to hand those very same teachers a bunch of studies showing cell phones caused brain cancer and jaw cancer, those same teachers who use cell phones would go out and find a dozen other studies showing cell phones are harmless.
