Don't get me started.
I don't believe, and most likely will never believe, that the insurance companies' goal is to "provide the best care for the lowest cost". My experience tells me that it is to provide the least acceptable care for the lowest cost (their cost) and highest profit margin. Because costs change over time we will feel the full brunt of it. That's when costs go up, when they go down we will most likely never hear about it.

The system we have is breaking down (my own observation) and people are suffering. I don't believe there is any endeavor in human history that will give us a clue on how to proceed. I don't even think our natural social characteristics will help us see a way to unite all the factions in a fair and reasonable way.

The health insurance industry is huge. They are duplicating efforts on a massive scale. But our Government is not equipped to take on the load all by itself. If an insurance company makes a huge profit, did their customers suffer for it? If a drug company makes a huge profit, did people die because of it? I really don't like the idea of stockholders determining whether I live or die or what the quality of my life will be. I guess that's what really bothers me.

[I need to disqualify myself from voting on Ms McCaughey's hair color, red heads have a secret power over me.]
