Tysabri
1) "Schlerosis" actually = "Sclerosis"

2) The Tysabri/Melanoma story was available to all in
February as the media picked it up from the NE Journal
of Medicine. Google alerts is a great educational
tool. There have been three known "bugs" with Tysabri
so far: the small risk of PML; some concern about
liver function; and the even smaller association with
melanoma. It's no surprise for it to be on the FDA's
list.

While I'm no fan of drug companies or the FDA, I do
think that Biogen/Elan and the FDA have done an ok job
managing Tysabri. It's a tradeoff for those of us who
use it - the calculated risks of the known bugs, and
the possibility of lessening the severity of a really
crappy disease.
