Sadly this is where a problem exists
Curing cancer would be great on the human level. But it doesn't make good business sense for doctors and pharmaceutical companies that rely on patients to make money. Much like many other diseases, it's more profitable to keep you alive and dependent on the drugs keeping you alive than to completely cure you.

And this is why we will not see any major cures in our lifetime. Keeping people sick and dependent makes more money. And this is why I have issues with big pharma.
