The problem with new drugs like Vytorin is that we
must rely on short-term studies & short-term
observation in order to gamble on the drugs' safety.
There is, presently, only one cholesterol medication
that has not only proven to be most effective in
decreasing mortality, but has been tested and used
safely for more than 60 tears. The therapeutic use of
niacin ( see cholesterolscore.com )has been studied in
6 major clinical trials with cardiovascular endpoints.
Niacin can not be protected by a patent, so BigPharma
hasn't, until recently, shown much interest in
promoting it.
