If any proof were needed

that this is the next big land rush, with enormous amounts of money at stake, this is it. Aside from sports [1], the only reason ASU ever does anything is if the Administration sees boatloads of money in it.

Michael Crow wants the school (already the largest in the world) to double in size on his watch, and that takes funding with a capital "F." Nothing stands in the way -- least of all the cattle whose only purpose is to pay tuition.

[1] You can argue either way on that; they say that the sports are necessary to get Alumni Association contributions, but the Alumni Association (and in fact all private contributions combined, last I looked) don't cover the athletic budget.
