So, is resistance now futile?

Well, in the UK next door it looks like everyone, transient visitors included, will have to have DNA in the Home Office's database.

Expect the third round of the PATRIOT Act to include this if it isn't part of the upcoming national medical "reform" legislation.

The bottom line is that all of the big stakeholders (insurance, government, employers, etc) see major advantages to centralized databases containing everyone's medical history. The only ones with nothing to gain (individuals) really have no say in the matter.
